Job Description

In Houston, TX: Texas Association of Community Health Centers is seeking a full-time Chief Financial Officer to direct the organization's financial planning and accounting practices, as well as its relationship with lending institutions, shareholders, and the financial community, by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate managers

Job Overview

  •  Oversees and directs treasury, budgeting, audit, tax, accounting, purchasing, real estate, long range forecasting, and insurance activities for the organization
  • Directs the Accounting Manager in providing and directing procedures and computer application systems necessary to maintain proper records and to afford adequate accounting controls and services
  • Directs the Accounting Manager in activities such as custodian of funds, securities, and assets of the organization
  • Directs the Billing Manager in maximizing reimbursement in billing, coding, and collections
  • Appraises the organization's financial position and issues monthly reports on organization's financial stability, liquidity, and growth
  • Coordinates tax reporting programs and investor relations activities
  • Analyzes, consolidates, and directs all cost accounting procedures, in addition to other statistical and routine reports
  • Oversees and directs the preparation and issuance of the organization's annual reports
  • Establishes and maintains contacts with stockholders, financial institutions, and the investment community
  •  Ensures that effective internal controls are in place and ensures compliance with GAAP and applicable federal, state, and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting
  • Hiring, training, and retaining skilled accounting and finance staff
  • EHR: EPIC

 

Qualifications:

  •  BS in Accounting or Finance, MBA and/or CPA highly preferred; minimum of 3 years post graduate training required
  • Exposure to an audit, either as an auditor or auditee
  • 3 to 5 years progressive experience, preferably in healthcare
  • Strong knowledge of FQHCs preferred
  •  Experience working in a team environment
  • Previous experience with nonprofit organizations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Well-organized, strategic thinker
  • Ability to handle a multitude of tasks simultaneously
  • Discipline, strong work ethic and "can do" attitude
