The University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital is seeking a qualified Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) with certification in lactation consultation (IBCLC – International Board Certified Lactation Consultant), for the goal of providing inpatient and outpatient lactation consultation services. The CNM lactation consultant functions as a clinical expert in the role of practitioner and educator about lactation issues and provides lactation consultation support. The NP or CNM will continue to integrate lactation consultation services within the Newborn Family Care Center, pediatric and specialized inpatient units, as well as Fairview Clinics - University Children’s outpatient clinic. There are many opportunities to be involved in hospital committees, quality improvement projects, teaching of students, research and continuing medical education.
Position Qualifications: A qualified candidate will be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing and formal Nurse Midwife training program. Have a current, or be eligible for, Minnesota APRN license and be approved or eligible by the Minnesota Board of Nursing for prescription writing privileges. CNM candidates will be certified through American College of Nurse-Midwives (AMCB) or eligible for ACNM national exam. Candidates will be IBCLC certified. Meet threshold criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and Privileges. Ability to obtain and/or maintain DEA certification for the State of Minnesota.
- Minimum 3-5 years lactation experience and/or one year as International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).
- Preferred 3-5 years as IBCLC.
