In this role, the Provider shall be responsible for providing professional nursing services that supplement and complement the professional nursing staff and the medical staff’s deliver of patient care services.  These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and MedStar Medical Group Anesthesia’s philosophy, policies, procedures, and standards. The Provider shall conduct preoperative/preanesthesia patient review of systems and/or history and physical on any patient undergoing anesthesia, order, review, and communicate findings appropriately of required laboratory tests, diagnostics tests, and physical assessments, conduct appropriate patient education activities and interventions related to perioperative care including but not limited to the management of diabetes, anemia, and frailty. These clinical functions performed under and in collaboration with the general medical directions of MedStar Medical Group Anesthesia and the specific medical director of Pre Anesthesia Testing of MedStar Union Memorial Hospital.
