Part-Time (20 hrs/week) Cardiac Nurse Practitioner (Electrophysiology) Opening - Danbury, Connecticut (60 miles from New York City)

Danbury Hospital is seeking a part-time Cardiac Nurse Practitioner (specialty in Electrophysiology) to join our growing Arrhythmia Service at Danbury Hospital. We are located in Danbury, Connecticut, (suburban Fairfield County), which is about 60 miles northeast of New York City and near the border of Westchester and Putnam Counties in NY. In collaboration with physicians and team members, the ARPN provides direct care to those patients with cardiac rhythm disorders and related conditions. The APRN also provides evaluation and care to patients with implanted cardiac rhythm devices.

The ideal candidate will be a board certified Nurse Practitioner with prior APRN cardiac care experience preferred and a working knowledge of implantable cardiac devices and EP procedures. State of CT APRN license, CT State Controlled Substance Registration, and Federal DEA required. . Position is part-time, 3 days/week. No call or weekends. Position is a combination of inpatient and outpatient services. We offer a comprehensive compensation package, including competitive salary and benefits at a part-time rate.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Provides services as a licensed, independent practitioner to patients receiving care across all aspects of the Arrhythmia Service.
  • Ensures continuing education and competency for all Danbury Hospital Staff requiring training on arrhythmia procedures and pre, intra and post-procedure care.
  • Collaborates with healthcare providers & clinical manager to define, track & evaluate quality metrics and achieve clinical integration related to Arrhythmia Services.
  • Ensures clinically appropriate transitions of patients undergoingprocedures.
  • Provides post-procedure follow-up, discharges patients after discharge criteria are met, and gives patient specific prescriptions for plans of care with detailed instructions.
  • Documents discharge summaries.
  • Makes daily rounds independently or with other members of Arrhythmia Center Team.
  • Provide care to patients with implanted devices and manages those devices in order to maximize device function and therapy.
  • Assists with the collection of data for research studies, clinical trials and/or ACC-ICD registry as requested.
  • Consults with physicians and other healthcare providers to ensure the highest quality of patient care.
  • Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
