Full-Time Opening for Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Specializing in Bariatric Care - Danbury, Connecticut (60 miles from NYC)

Western Connecticut Medical Group has as excellent opportunity for a full-time Nurse Practitioner (APRN) or Physician Assistant specializing in Bariatric Care to join our Center for Weight Loss Surgery at Danbury Hospital in Danbury, Connecticut, (Fairfield County) located about 60 miles northeast of New York City and near the border of Westchester and Putnam Counties in New York. The APRN/PA will work collaboratively with the Bariatric team on pre and post op care for patients, acute visits, follow up with patients’ primary care providers, and long-term support/maintenance to ensure patient success. This is an excellent opportunity to work very independently within the Weight Loss Surgery Program. This position also provides cross coverage for general surgery and colo-rectal surgery. This is an outpatient office-based position with Monday-Friday office hours, no call, no evenings or weekends.
The ideal candidate will be a board certified Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant looking to join a dedicated and collegial team with 2 Bariatric Physicians, 1 Nurse Practitioner and 3 RNs. Previous experience in Bariatric care a plus. We are willing to consider and train new grads. Our Bariatrics practice is located on the Danbury Hospital Campus. Established in 1885, Danbury Hospital is a not-for-profit community hospital providing Greater Danbury area residents convenient access to exceptional care. Danbury Hospital has 371 beds and is a Level II Trauma Center with approximately 70,000 ED visits per year. As a teaching hospital, we are associated with the University of Vermont College of Medicine, Ross University, American University of the Caribbean, and Yale School of Medicine.
Western Connecticut Health Network includes Danbury, Norwalk, and New Milford Hospitals in addition to our Medical Group, which includes 400+ physicians and 150+ advanced practice providers. Job Requirements:
- This position requires a minimum formal education of Master Degree, State of CT RN and APRN or PA license, CT Controlled Substances and Federal DEA Registration.
- Strong Interpersonal and communication skills.
- Prior experience as APRN or PA preferred. Surgical or Bariatric experience preferred.
- Willingness to work 8 hour shifts Monday – Friday 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM.
