Western Connecticut Medical Group is seeking an experienced per diem Physician Assistant (PA) for the Emergency Department at Danbury and New Milford Hospitals in Danbury and New Milford, CT (about 70 and 82 miles northeast of New York City). Danbury Hospital's Emergency Department is an accredited Level II Trauma Center, a Stroke Center and a Chest Pain Center, offering 24-hour interventional cardiology. We treat about 70,000 patients annually, with approximately 900 trauma cases. Our team also provides coverage at nearby New Milford Hospital, where we treat 16,000 patients annually in our newly renovated ER department. Our team of 22 physicians and 14 physician assistants provide 24/7 coverage at both locations.At New Milford Hospital, our ED treats 16,000 patients annually in our newly renovated department. This is an employed position with a collegial and stable team.

Established in 1885, Danbury Hospital is a not-for-profit community hospital with 371 beds, providing Greater Danbury area resident's convenient access to exceptional care. In July 2014, the hospital debuted our new 40,000-square-foot Emergency Department, doubling the size of the ED with a streamlined triage area, state of the art technology, and all private patient rooms. We have 71 treatment/consultation areas including a 12-bed express care area, four alert/high acuity rooms, and a seven-bed crisis intervention area. The ED includes a dedicated imaging center, a specialized pediatric unit and a direct-access heliport that expands the hospital's capacities as a Level II Trauma Center.

New Milford Hospital is an 85-bed community hospital, serving the residents of the greater Litchfield County area in CT for almost 100 years. Our Emergency Department, newly renovated in 2015, is an 11,000-square-foot, sustainable and "green" space, equipped with all private patient rooms, specialty care areas and an expanded triage desk. Danbury Hospital's Emergency Department is an accredited Level II Trauma Center, a Stroke Center and a Chest Pain Center, offering 24-hour interventional cardiology. We treat about 70,000 patients annually, with approximately 900 trauma cases.

Job Summary:
Emergency Physician Assistants (EPA) function under the administrative supervision of the Chairman of the Department of Emergency Medicine and the direct supervision of the on-duty Emergency Physician. They are utilized in the Emergency Department and in the Express Care Unit and are credentialed to perform clinical assessments and procedures under the proximate supervision of an Attending Physician. They also perform various administrative functions, such as record reviews, laboratory result follow-ups, x-ray follow-ups, EKG follow-ups. PAs provide total patient care within the Danbury Hospital Emergency Department and assist Emergency Physicians with care of their patients including Fast Track and Main Emergency Department and partner with Senior Attending Physicians.

Job Requirements:
· Graduate of an approved Physician Assistant program
· Current certification by NCCPA
· CT PA license, Controlled Substances and Federal DEA Registration
· Current provider certification in ACLS and PALS
· At least 50 hours pertinent CME annually
· Good interpersonal communication skills, work well in a team
· Prefer 3+ years Emergency Medicine experience working autonomously providing care in both main ED and Express Care/Fast Track.
· Willing to work as needed, a variable templated schedule of 11 or 12 hour shifts, approximately 2-3 shifts per month with availability for 1 weekday, 1 weekend day, 1 Fall/Winter and 1 Spring/Summer Holiday.
