Job Description

Nuvance Health Medical Group is seeking a full time Emergency Physician Assistants (PA) for the Emergency Departments at Danbury, New Milford and Norwalk Hospitals in Danbury (70 miles from NYC) New Milford (85 miles from NYC) and Norwalk, CT (50 miles from NYC). Danbury and Norwalk are level 2 Trauma Centers. Prior experience in Emergency Medicine required.

Job Requirements:

  • Graduate of an approved Physician’s Assistant program, current licensure by Connecticut including CT Controlled Substance Registration and Federal DEA Registration and Current Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
  • Current provider certification in ACLS and PALS
  • At least 50 hours pertinent CME annually
  • Good interpersonal communication skills.
  • Norwalk Hospital - Willing to work rotating shifts on weekdays, overnights, weekends. Typically about 13-15 shifts per month, variable schedule usually 10 AM – 9:30 PM or 10 PM – 8 AM and Available to take telephone call a few times per month.
  • Danbury and New Milford Hospital - 5+ years Emergency Medicine experience working autonomously providing care in both main ED and Express Care/Fast Track required. The schedule will be variable, templated schedule of 9-12 hour shifts, about 15 per month.

Established in 1885, Danbury Hospital is a not-for-profit community hospital with 371 beds, providing Greater Danbury area resident's convenient access to exceptional care. In July 2014, the hospital debuted our new 40,000-square-foot Emergency Department, doubling the size of the ED with a streamlined triage area, state of the art technology, and all private patient rooms. We have 71 treatment/consultation areas including a 12-bed express care area, four alert/high acuity rooms, and a seven-bed crisis intervention area. The ED includes a dedicated imaging center, a specialized pediatric unit and a direct-access heliport that expands the hospital's capacities as a Level II Trauma Center.

New Milford Hospital is an 85-bed community hospital, serving the residents of the greater Litchfield County area in CT for almost 100 years. Our Emergency Department, newly renovated in 2015, is an 11,000-square-foot, sustainable and "green" space, equipped with all private patient rooms, specialty care areas and an expanded triage desk. Danbury Hospital's Emergency Department is an accredited Level II Trauma Center, a Stroke Center and a Chest Pain Center, offering 24-hour interventional cardiology. We treat about 70,000 patients annually, with approximately 900 trauma cases.

Norwalk Hospital, a Level II Trauma Center, is accredited as a Stroke Center and certified to provide Emergency Angioplasty for heart attack.  Established in 1893, Norwalk Hospital is a 366 bed, not-for-profit community hospital providing Fairfield and Westchester County residents convenient access to exceptional care, close to home. As a teaching hospital, we are associated with University of Vermont Larner School of Medicine, Yale University, Ross University, American University of the Caribbean, Sacred Heart University, UConn, Quinnipiac, and Western Connecticut State University among others.
