In San Juan, TX: Texas Association of Community Health Centers is seeking a full-time Physician Assistant or Family Nurse Practitioner who will be responsible for the delivery of quality medical care to patients of the center.

Job Overview:

Provide medical services, but only as delegated by a supervising physician
Maintain medical expertise and competency (to include age specific competency) as well as demonstrate thorough knowledge of procedures to deliver quality primary medical care
Provide medical sessions, as scheduled, in direct patient care at clinic site
Examine, diagnose, treat and/or refer patients assigned to panel, on an in-patient and out-patient basis (as per individual employment agreements)
Prescribe pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens as appropriate to assessed medical conditions
Refer clients for appropriate specialty care services, lab and x-ray and any other ancillary services that are appropriate for patient’s management and care
Review all lab and x-ray reports for patients under his/her care on a timely basis and makes medical management decisions appropriately
Follow appropriate standards of care for each patient
Provide continuity of care to center patients on his or her patient panel and other patients as assigned, including routine in-patient and nursing home care to center patients
Ensure that patient and family/significant others are educated about diagnosis and the plan of care
Act as a resource for facilitating communication when necessary
Participate in specified health promotion, education and/or prevention programs as needed; attends and participates in clinic meetings/departmental meetings and other clinic functions as required by the Center
Maintain professional courtesy at all times
Perform all other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Demonstrates knowledge of the Texas Medical Practice Act and Texas Medical Board regulations pertinent to Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner
Degree from an accredited Physician Assistant Program or Nurse Practitioners Program
Current unrestricted license from the appropriate Texas Board to practice as a PA or NP in the State of Texas
1 year post graduate training preferred 
Board certification required
Annual continuing medical education as required by the Texas Board
Must be registered and have current DEA, DPS and other such certificates to legally operate a practitioner in the State of Texas
Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for Healthcare Professionals Certification
Bilingual (Spanish and English) preferred
