Western Connecticut Medical Group has as excellent opportunity for a per diem Gastroenterology Physician Assistant at Danbury Hospital in Danbury, CT, about 60 miles northeast of New York City. Our long established and busy practice includes 12 physicians and 8 physician assistants. The per diem coverage is flexible between inpatient and outpatient coverage as well as weekdays and weekends. There is also opportunity to cover outpatient at other office locations, including Ridgefield, Newtown, Southbury, and New Milford based on candidate interest.

The ideal candidate will be a board certified Physician Assistant with previous Internal Medicine or Gastroenterology experience.

Western Connecticut Health Network includes Danbury, Norwalk, and New Milford Hospitals in addition to our Medical Group, which includes 400+ physicians and 150+ advanced practice providers. Our Network also has over 70 outpatient practice locations, serving a geographically broad region throughout Western Connecticut and eastern New York.

Our Gastroenterology practice is located on the Danbury Hospital Campus. Established in 1885, Danbury Hospital is a not-for-profit community hospital providing Greater Danbury area residents convenient access to exceptional care. Danbury Hospital has 371 beds and is a Level II Trauma Center with approximately 70,000 ED visits per year. As a teaching hospital, we are associated with the University of Vermont College of Medicine, Ross University, American University of the Caribbean, and Yale School of Medicine.

Danbury, Connecticut, located in the foothills of the Berkshire Mountains and on the border of New York State, is about 60 miles northeast of New York City and 60 miles west of Hartford, CT. Job Summary:
To provide primary medical care, under the supervision of a physician, and assist patients to recover from acute illnesses and minimize the effects of chronic illnesses.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor Degree and graduate of an approved Physician Assistant (PA) school.
  • CT State Physician Assistant license.
  • DEA/State of CT controlled substance.
  • Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
  • ACLS & BLS certification. 
  • Must maintain 50 CME's over two years.
  • Strong Interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Internal Medicine or Gastroenterology experience preferred.
  • Willingness to work per diem as needed, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM.
