Experienced Part-time Surgical Physician Assistant (PA) – Teaching Role – Norwalk Hospital, Norwalk, Connecticut (50 miles from New York City)
Norwalk Hospital is seeking an experienced part-time Surgical Physician Assistant (PA) to join our long established teaching Surgical PA residency program in Norwalk, Connecticut. Norwalk Hospital is located about 50 miles outside of New York City in lower Fairfield County Connecticut. This is a great opportunity to have an active role supervising our Surgical Residents, work on the floors and assist in the OR across a wide range of surgical sub-specialties.
This is an employed position with Western Connecticut Medical Group. We offer a competitive compensation package, including pro-rated comprehensive benefits as well as pro-rated allowances for CMEs and Dues expenses.
Surgical service coverage includes general surgery in addition to Thoracic, Vascular, Urology, Colorectal, Bariatrics, Plastic & Reconstructive surgery, Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Gynecological surgery, and the SICU.
Specific responsibilities include:
- History and physical examinations
- OR assisting
- Pre- and post-operative care of patients
- Active participation on the trauma team
- Participation in the education and hands-on training of PA residents and PA students and medical students during surgical rotations at Norwalk Hospital

Job Requirements:
- Baccalaureate degree.
- Graduate of an approved PA Program and a post-graduate training program in surgery or at least one year surgical or equivalent work experience
- Knowledge/experience of surgical critical care preferred.
- Current Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
- Physician Assistant licensure by the State of Connecticut
- Connecticut State Controlled Substance and Federal DEA Registrations
- ATLS, ACLS & BLS certifications. ATLS training will be scheduled as necessary.
- 24 control hours, three 8 hour days between the hours of 7:30 am – 4 pm Mon-Fri. No evenings or weekends.
