Position Description
Missoula, Montana - Providence Health & Services has an immediate opportunity for a physician assistant with cardiothoracic surgery training/experience to join the International Heart Institute of Montana at our hospital in Missoula, St. Patrick Hospital. Proficient endovascular skills are required as well as experience in assisting in complex valve surgeries. Two full-time surgeons perform over 350 open heart cases/year and are supported by a dedicated team of physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, surgical technicians, and clerical office staff. The IHI has a robust structural heart program, performing over 160 TAVR cases in 2018. The structural heart program is a collaborative program between interventional cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery physicians. This is an excellent opportunity to join a world-renowned heart center in the heart of the Rockies. Our cardiothoracic physician assistants not only support our surgeons in the operating room but also participate in the daily management during the postoperative period. On-call requirement for this position is ten days/month which includes approximately every third weekend. Our cardiothoracic physician assistants and nurse practitioners work four ten-hour days/week in addition to their weekend requirement with a post-call day off opportunity. Facility Description
The International Heart Institute of Montana is an internationally recognized, comprehensive and collaborative practice offering full vascular, cardiac and thoracic interventions and services. The IHI is located on the campus of Missoula's Providence St. Patrick Hospital and has received numerous awards as one of the Top 50 Cardiovascular programs from Truven Health. Researchers and cardiologists have created an atmosphere of intellectual curiosity and discovery to advance cardiac care. Physicians work alongside scientists to apply new treatments from the lab to the patient. Each year the institute hosts the annual Rocky Mountain Valve Symposium, which draws the top heart specialists from around the world for workshops, lectures and training in new procedures. Our heart specialists regularly travel to eleven IHI clinics as well as to other communities across western Montana and Idaho for medical consultations.
Location Description
Missoula is a sophisticated university town of 65,000 located about halfway between Glacier and Yellowstone National Parks.
