Oncology/Hematology Physician Assistant– Norwalk, Connecticut – One Hour from New York City
Western Connecticut Medical Group has as excellent opportunity for a full-time Oncology/Hematology Physician Assistant at our Cancer Center at Norwalk Hospital in Norwalk, Connecticut, located one hour outside of New York City. Our long established and busy practice includes six physicians and two Nurse Practitioners. This is a full-time position for mainly outpatient coverage. Work schedule follows Monday through Friday office hours with no weekends.
The ideal candidate will be board certified and have at least 5 years of physician assistant experience, with at least 3 years of strong clinical experience in Oncology. The practice sees a broad spectrum of Hematology/Oncology patients. The PA will be responsible and accountable for the clinical management of the adult oncology patient to support one of the six oncologist’s practice. The PA is expected to assess/refer patients for both physical and psychosocial needs in creating patient cancer treatment summaries, preventive care plans and survivorship care plans. We are seeking excellent communication, clinical and interpersonal skills to facilitate patient care between hospitalists and primary care and other referring physicians as well as amongst staff. The candidate must be able to work well both with a large multidisciplinary team as well as independently.
Our office is based in the state of the art C. Anthony and Jean Whittingham Cancer Center, located on the hospital campus. Our Cancer Center includes subspecialty practices of Breast, Gynecologic, Prostate, Lung, Hematologic and Colorectal cancers. The space is shared with surgical subspecialists in gynecologic, lung and hepatobiliary surgery. Additionally, our Center provides Diagnostic Imaging, Cancer Genetics, Radiation Therapy, Cancer Research Trials as well as a full complement of Social Support Services.
Norwalk Hospital has 366 beds and is also a Level II Trauma Center with approximately 50,000 ED visits per year. As a teaching hospital, we are associated with the University of Vermont College of Medicine, Ross University, American University of the Caribbean, and Yale School of Medicine. Our Medical Group includes 400+ physicians and 150+ advanced practice providers, serving a geographically broad region throughout Western Connecticut and eastern New York.
