Providence Heath & Services is seeking an experienced physician leader and educator to serve as Chair of Graduate Medical Education at Providence Portland Medical Center. The primary focus of this job is to provide vision and mentorship, as well as educational instruction for internal medicine residents and core faculty in a nationally recognized program in Portland, Oregon. The Chair will collaborate with multiple components of an integrated health care system in Providence-Oregon to promote ideal educational experiences for the department and to foster exposure to advancements in clinical care and research. This position will have some duties similar to a Chief Medical Officer over time, in having input into quality of care in Providence Portland Medical Center, but its primary role is as an educational leader.

An ideal candidate is an Internal Medicine trained physician executive, generalist or subspecialist who can guide the Department of Medical Education in fostering the tradition of academic excellence that has achieved national recognition over the last 30 years. This candidate must be skilled at relationship-building and teamwork, as well as collaborating with departmental and regional leaders to enhance the education, clinical care and scholarship of the residency.
