Chief of Cardiac Surgery Opportunity in Danbury, Connecticut (60 miles from New York City)

Nuvance Health, formerly known as Western Connecticut Health, is seeking a full-time Chief of Cardiac Surgery to join our long established program at Danbury Hospital in Danbury, Connecticut.  Danbury is conveniently located in suburban Fairfield County, close to New York City, and within easy driving distance to Boston.  This is an excellent opportunity to join an experienced team with a growing case volume. In addition to conventional open heart surgery, the Danbury Hospital program offers minimally invasive cardiac surgery including robotics.  A strong well integrated structural heart program including TAVR is present. There is dedicated cardiac PA support. This is an employed position with a highly competitive compensation package, including allowances for CMEs and Dues expenses and relocation.

Established in 1885, Danbury Hospital is a not-for-profit, 371-bed community hospital providing Greater Danbury area residents convenient access to exceptional care.  Danbury Hospital’s Emergency Department is an accredited Level II Trauma Center, a Stroke Center and a Chest Pain Center, offering 24-hour interventional cardiology. As a teaching hospital, we are associated with University of Vermont College of Medicine, Yale University School of Medicine, Ross University School of Medicine and the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine. Our employed Medical Group includes 900+ physicians and advanced practice providers, serving a geographically broad region throughout Western Connecticut and eastern New York.

Danbury, Connecticut, located in the foothills of the Berkshire Mountains and on the border of New York State, is about 60 miles northeast of New York City and 60 miles west of Hartford, CT. As part of the greater NY metropolitan area, the city of Danbury enjoys both proximity to New York City culture and access to a wide array of outdoor activities, including hiking, biking, fishing and boating in state and regional parks and preserves. Danbury is home to Western Connecticut State University as well as a number of historical sites, museums, theaters and art galleries. Surrounded by a number of quaint towns with scenic rolling hills, the area offers a variety of excellent housing and school options. Boston, New York City, New Haven and Hartford are easily accessible via train or car.
