Job Description

The emergency ultrasound director will be a board-certified emergency physician who has a minimum of 3 years of experience after an EM ultrasound fellowship and who will be be given administrative oversight of the emergency ultrasound program from the EM Chief, Manish Sharma DO, MBA, FACEP. In addition to coordination of education, machine acquisition and maintenance, the US director is responsible for developing, monitoring, and revising the QA process.

Specific Ultrasound Director Responsibilities:

As ultrasound director his/her responsibilities include:

  • Developing and ensuring compliance to overall program goals: educational, clinical, financial, and academic.
  • Designing and managing an appropriate credentialing and certification program for physicians and/or residents within the group and/or academic facility.
  • Designing and implementing in-house and/or out sourced educational programs for all residents and attending physicians involved in the credentialing program.
  • Monitoring and documenting physician privileges, educational experiences, ultrasound scans, and CME.
  • Developing, maintaining, and improving an adequate QA process in which physician scans are reviewed for quality in a timely manner and from which feedback is generated.
  • Developing and monitoring an appropriate ultrasound machine maintenance care plan to ensure quality and cleanliness.

Other Requirements for Emergency Ultrasound Director:

  • Credentialed as an Emergency Physician
  • Privileges for emergency ultrasound applications
