Job Description

Swedish Medical Group is seeking a dedicated Gastroenterology Hospitalist to join a collaborative and growing digestive health team in Seattle, Washington. This position offers a balanced inpatient-focused practice with opportunities to perform select outpatient endoscopic procedures while working alongside experienced gastroenterologists, surgeons, advanced practice providers, and hospital-based specialists.

Position Details:

  • Primarily inpatient gastroenterology practice
  • Consultative services for hospitalized patients across multiple campuses
  • Management of acute and chronic gastrointestinal disorders
  • Performance of inpatient endoscopic procedures, including EGD and colonoscopy
  • Opportunity for scheduled outpatient endoscopy sessions and other diagnostic procedures
  • Collaborative multidisciplinary care model with surgery, oncology, hospital medicine, radiology, and pathology
  • Established referral network and strong institutional support

Position Responsibilities:

  • Provide inpatient gastroenterology consultation services
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat a broad spectrum of gastrointestinal diseases and conditions
  • Perform endoscopic procedures, including: Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD), Colonoscopy, Flexible sigmoidoscopy, Capsule endoscopy interpretation (if applicable), Other diagnostic and therapeutic procedures consistent with training and credentialing
  • Participate in outpatient endoscopy sessions to enhance procedural access for the community
  • Collaborate with referring physicians and multidisciplinary care teams
  • Maintain timely documentation and compliance with quality and regulatory requirements
  • Support quality improvement initiatives and evidence-based clinical practice

Required Qualifications:

  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Gastroenterology
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited Internal Medicine Residency
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited Gastroenterology Fellowship
  • Eligible for Washington State medical licensure
  • DEA certification or eligibility

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in hospital-based gastroenterology practice
  • Interest in advanced endoscopic procedures
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to quality outcomes and patient experience
