Per Diem Trauma/Acute Care Surgery Coverage at Danbury Hospital, Danbury, Connecticut (60 miles from New York City)

Danbury Hospital is seeking a per diem Acute Care/Trauma Surgeon with fellowship training in Surgical Critical Care to help with coverage at our Level II Trauma Center, located in Danbury, Connecticut, about 60 miles northeast of New York City and near the border of Westchester and Putnam Counties in New York State. Danbury Hospital has over 70,000 visits to our ER annually, and about 900 trauma cases a year. Excellent specialty back up is available as well as surgical residents and medical students.

Board certification in both general surgery and surgical critical care is required for this position. This is an employed position with Western Connecticut Medical Group.

Established in 1885, Danbury Hospital is a not-for-profit community hospital providing Greater Danbury area residents convenient access to exceptional care. Danbury Hospital is part of Western Connecticut Health Network, which also includes New Milford and Norwalk Hospitals as well as over 70 outpatient practice locations.  Danbury Hospital has 371 beds and is a Level II Trauma Center with approximately 70,000 ED visits per year. As a teaching hospital, we are affiliated with the University of Vermont College of Medicine, Ross University, American University of the Caribbean, and Yale School of Medicine. Our employed Medical Group includes 400+ physicians and 150+ advanced practice providers, serving a geographically broad region throughout Western Connecticut and eastern New York.

Danbury, Connecticut, located in the foothills of the Berkshire Mountains and on the border of New York State, is about 60 miles northeast of New York City and 60 miles west of Hartford, CT. As part of the greater NY metropolitan area, the city of Danbury enjoys both proximity to New York City culture and access to a wide array of outdoor activities, including hiking, biking, fishing and boating in state and regional parks and preserves. Danbury is home to Western Connecticut State University as well as a number of historical sites, museums, theaters and art galleries.
