Job Description

Providence is seeking an experienced physician leader to serve as the Executive Medical Director for its Regional Hospitalist Program. The primary focus of this role will be to provide strategic leadership to the program and ensure the successful delivery of Hospitalist services across 8 Providence hospitals in the state. The ideal candidate will have 5 or more years of hospital or medical group leadership experience in a regional structure. Experience with medical staff policy and procedures, evaluating medical services, and implementation of an effective quality agenda in a matrix organization is highly desired. Other major responsibilities include:

  • Assist in administering and operating the Program in an efficient and effective manner subject to any directives specific to the Program
  • Provide recommendations to Program Administration in the development, management, and budgeting of the Program
  • Provide consultation in developing the Program’s policies, clinical protocols, forms, reports and records required by Providence
  • Facilitate communication among the Program, Medical staff, Providence Administration, and other relevant Providence departments
  • Participate in the development and implementation of Program specific objectives and standards The Executive Medical Director position is an outstanding opportunity to lead and promote one of the Pacific Northwest’s premier Hospitalist programs. Providence employs Hospitalists in eight facilities across Oregon, allowing hospital-medicine experts to work on-site and ensure patients receive the best possible care. The Hospitalists in this program work collaboratively with other medical and surgical specialists to ensure the coordination of patient evaluations, treatment planning and overall care. With a commitment to lifelong learning, sharing knowledge and working closely with patients’ primary care providers, Hospitalists maintain continuity of care before, during and after hospitalization.
