As a nocturnist nurse practitioner or physician assistant, you'll work a predictable 7-on/7-off block schedule (7pm to 7am), averaging just 15 shifts per month, with additional shift opportunities available for those seeking extra income. You'll be part of a collaborative night team that includes a dedicated nocturnist physician, swing-shift physician, swing-shift APC, and fellow nocturnist NPs and PAs, ensuring strong support throughout your shift.
Opportunity Highlights- Primary responsibility: admissions and inpatient cross-coverage
- Collaborative practice model with physician and APC support overnight
- Average of 10-12 admissions per night across the team
- Opportunity to manage a diverse patient population ranging from low- to high-acuity cases
- Closed ICU staffed by intensivists
- Procedures are optional, with emergency medicine physicians available for procedural support
- Hospitalists manage and respond to codes for their own service-line patients with emergency physicians available for assistance
- Patients transition back to the hospital medicine team following ICU discharge
