Primary Care Physician Leadership Opportunity – Brookfield, Connecticut

Nuvance Health Medical Practice is seeking a full time Primary Care Physician/Medical Director for our Brookfield Primary Care & Pediatrics Practice office, located in suburban Fairfield County, Connecticut, about 90 minutes outside of New York City. Our Brookfield practice is long established and highly regarded, having provided high-quality healthcare to our community for over thirty-five years, including the local police and fire departments, the Brookfield school system, and the local YMCA. 

Our Primary Care medical practice is looking for a compassionate Family Practice or Internal Medicine/Pediatric physician to provide comprehensive care in a team-based environment to our population of patients as well as Medical Director Responsibilities. This includes not only caring for acute and chronic conditions, but working with multidisciplinary support staff to promote the health and well-being of our entire panel of covered lives. The medical director is responsible for driving quality of care, optimizing patient access and ensuring top decile patient experience scores for the practice. This is a full-time, office-based position providing out-patient services only with limited on call obligations.

Our staff includes 11 providers (Physicians and Advance Practice Provider colleagues) and excellent support staff. The office is a completely new facility with spacious exam rooms and dedicated office space for our physicians and advanced practitioners. We utilize a state-of-the-art Electronic Health Record that is fully integrated across all our hospitals and ambulatory sites. We were one of the first practices in our area to be awarded a Level 3 certification for PCMH, and our practice is committed to undergraduate medical education with many of our clinicians precepting medical students from the University of Vermont.

This is an employed position that includes a highly competitive compensation package, including relocation allowance, comprehensive benefits, and allowances for CMEs and Dues Expenses.

Nuvance Health Medical Practice is part of our larger 7 hospital network, Nuvance Health, and includes affiliation with nearby Danbury Hospital. Established in 1885, Danbury Hospital is a not-for-profit community hospital providing Greater Danbury area residents convenient access to exceptional care. As a teaching hospital, we are affiliated with the University of Vermont College of Medicine, Ross University, American University of the Caribbean, and Yale School of Medicine. Our Medical Group includes 900+ physicians and advanced practice providers, serving a geographically broad region throughout Western Connecticut and eastern New York.

Specific Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Work directly with providers to educate to our care process and determine what can be done to improve overall care quality
  • Manage activities related to the delivery of medical care and clinical services such as cost management, utilization review, quality assurance, and medical protocol development
  • Participate in various administrative and clinical staff meetings
  • Maintain confidentiality of all information related to participants, medical staff and employees
  • Demonstrate positive interpersonal relations
  • Oversee the activities of physicians/APPs, including the recruiting and credentialing processes
  • Assist in the development of practice based policy and procedures

Job Requirements:

  • MD or DO with CT State License, Federal DEA and State Controlled Substance Registration
  • Have successfully completed a Family Medicine Residency or an Internal Medicine AND Pediatric Residency or Internal Medicine Residency
  • Previous leadership experience required for Medical Director role
  • Must be Board Certified/Eligible
  • Off-hour coverage – Shared among multiple providers, phone-calls only with nurse triage.
  • Willingness to work full time 8 hour shifts between 8am-8pm Monday through Thursday and 8am-5pm on Friday. Occasional rotation on Saturday 9 am – 1 pm.
