Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester, Massachusetts is seeking a Chief of the Department of Medicine who will report directly to the hospital’s Chief Medical Officer. Saint Vincent Hospital is a 330 bed community hospital with 125 years of commitment to high quality patient care and to medical education. The hospital sponsors vibrant residencies in Internal Medicine, Radiology and Podiatry as well as fellowships in Cardiology, Interventional Cardiology, and Sleep Medicine. Saint Vincent serves as a major affiliated teaching site for the University of Massachusetts Medical School for medical student clinical rotations.
As the department chair, the Chief will be responsible for overseeing and supporting all of the Department’s clinical, educational and administrative activities and for ensuring its academic programs flourish. Direct reports to the Chief will include the residency program directors, division directors of each of the Department's medical subspecialties and the medical directors of the two hospitalist teams. Duties include overseeing the performance, quality and efficiency of the two Hospitalist teams, as well as teaching responsibilities and clinical duties.
The successful candidate will be BC in Internal Medicine and/or a medical subspecialty, licensed in Massachusetts, and will possess exceptional interpersonal skills and the academic credentials necessary for an appointment as an Associate Professor or Professor of Medicine at UMass Medical School. A minimum of ten years of clinical experience, minimum of five years of Medical Director or physician leadership experience and leadership within an academic department is required.
