Job Description

The University of Kansas Health System and the University of Kansas Medical Center partner is looking for an energetic, fellowship trained board certified or board eligible Spine physician to join our group, give the best care to patients, and the best education to students. The neurosurgery department includes a group of ten adult board certified/board eligible neurosurgeons with four associated pediatric neurosurgeons that hold dual faculty appointments at Children's Mercy Hospital. There are over 60 other physicians on staff with neuroscience specialty training including neurology, neurorehabilitation and neuroradiology.

  • Consistently Ranked among U.S. News and World Report's top 50 Neurology/Neurosurgery programs since inception of the ranking.
  • Our expanded 7-year program is now training 14 residents. We have the first program in the country to undergo and pass a 10-year accreditation from Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
  • Cambridge Tower A features 92 private rooms and a 26 bed Neuro ICU staffed 24/7 by board certified, fellowship trained neuro-intensivists. This new facility has 12 new operating rooms equipped with Brain lab navigation, iMRI, ROSA, and Brainlab Airo® intra-operative CT scanning.
  • The Marc A. Asher, M.D. Comprehensive Spine Center is the region's most comprehensive spine care program. The program includes multi-disciplinary care including Neurosurgery, Neurology, Orthopedic Surgery, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Anesthesiology, Pain management physicians, Pain psychiatrists and clinical psychologists, Physical and Occupational Therapists offer a wide variety of treatment modalities. Those modalities include pain management, non-surgical therapies, alternative therapies, minimally invasive procedures, and surgical intervention.
  • We use in house 3D printed models for surgical planning and training.
  • The Marc A. Asher, M.D. Comprehensive Spine Center features the EOS low dose 2D/3D standing x-ray imaging technology software.
  • Our dedicated neurosurgery research team includes a Neurosurgery dedicated Research Administrator, two Research RN's managing 17 clinical trials, including 2 funded by NIH. Our research team, along with The Research Institute handle grant submissions, IRB submissions, budgeting and contract negotiations.
  • Neurosurgery and Plastic Surgery partner in Spinal Cord Regeneration research with a PhD Basic Scientist thanks to an endowed Steve Palermo Spinal Cord Injury fund.
