STROKE NEUROLOGISTS
Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) is searching for additional stroke neurologists to join our four current stroke neurologists in our busy academic practice. We have recently expanded our telestroke programs within the LVHN network and beyond, highlighted by the inauguration of our new mobile stroke unit in 2017. The stroke group is fully supported by physician assistants/nurse practitioners as well as our neurocritical care team.
LVHN has been a Joint Commission-Certified Comprehensive Stroke Center since 2012, with the distinction of having been the third Comprehensive Stroke Center to be certified in the nation, and the first in Pennsylvania. The group covers 11 telestroke sites. We have been certified from the Joint Commission as a Comprehensive Stroke Center since 2012, with Gold Plus elite certification by the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association. Over 1,500 stroke cases are admitted each year to LVHN making it one of the busiest stroke services in the nation. The hospital has 24-hour coverage for rapid response to all neurologic emergencies as well as fellowship trained neurointerventional radiologists.
Neurology at LVHN has experienced significant growth and remarkable accomplishments during the last several years, and has grown to 24 neurologists and 16 advanced care providers. The division developed a new section of neurocritical care in 2015 to support the care of patients in our 14-bed Neuroscience ICU and now employs four neurocritical care neurologists. In July 2016, we welcomed the first class of residents into our fully ACGME-accredited neurology residency program. This year we also welcomed our new Chief of Neurology, Dr. Steven L. Lewis, Editor-in-Chief of Continuum: Lifelong Learning in Neurology, to lead the next phase of growth of Neurology at LVHN.
LVHN is a 988-bed regional referral center 90 miles west of NYC and 60 miles north of Philadelphia. LVHN offers providers the strength of a large network, an integrated medical staff and a platform to develop and grow your clinical and academic career.
