Swedish Medical Group is seeking a full-time board-certified/board-eligible Obstetrics and Gynecology physician to join the First Hill/Ballard OB-GYN and Midwifery practice in Seattle, Washington.
This is a highly collaborative, full-scope practice serving a diverse patient population at First Hill and Ballard locations with strong connections to midwifery, maternal-fetal medicine, OB-GYN Hospitalists, other OB-GYN subspecialties and the Swedish OB-GYN Residency Program. The ideal candidate is clinically skilled, team-oriented, and enthusiastic about providing exceptional patient-centered care while helping teach and support residents in a dynamic academic-community environment.
Position Details:
- Full-time position based in the First Hill/Ballard OB-GYN and Midwifery practice
- Combined 1.0 FTE role consisting of 0.8 FTE clinical practice and 0.2 FTE as Medical Director for the First Hill/Ballard OB-GYN and Midwifery group
- Full-scope OB-GYN opportunity with a mix of obstetrics, gynecology, procedures, surgery, and longitudinal outpatient care
- Collaborative practice model with OB-GYN physicians, certified nurse midwives, maternal-fetal medicine, OB hospitalists, nurses, advanced practice clinicians, and residents
- Teaching-focused environment with opportunities to work with Swedish OB-GYN residents in clinic, inpatient consultation, labor and delivery, and surgical care
- Opportunities for more formal residency faculty engagement
- Shared call and inpatient support model designed to promote safe patient care, team communication, and sustainable physician practice
- Comprehensive and multidisciplinary team with access to high-risk obstetric consultation, specialty gynecology resources, and robust hospital-based services
The Medical Director reports through the Swedish Medical Group (SMG) leadership structure and provides physician leadership for the First Hill/Ballard group in support of Swedish and SMG initiatives, priorities, and operational goals. Responsibilities include:
- Partnering with operational and nursing leaders to align clinical practice, staffing, access, workflows, and resource needs across the First Hill and Ballard locations
- Promoting clinical quality, patient safety, regulatory readiness, and a culture of continuous improvement, including review of relevant quality, safety, patient-experience, access, and operational performance data
- Supporting development, implementation, and adoption of evidence-based standards, policies, procedures, and care pathways consistent with Swedish, SMG, and service-line priorities
- Facilitating effective collaboration among OB-GYN physicians, certified nurse midwives, advanced practice clinicians, nursing, hospitalists, maternal-fetal medicine, specialty services, and residency leadership
- Serving as a physician liaison and escalation resource for clinical, operational, communication, and professionalism concerns, with appropriate coordination through established SMG leadership channels
- Supporting clinician recruitment, onboarding, engagement, retention, peer support, and professional development, and assisting with workforce and succession planning
- Leading or participating in practice meetings, performance-improvement work, and change-management efforts; communicating decisions, expectations, and progress to clinicians and other stakeholders
- Representing the First Hill/Ballard group in relevant SMG, Swedish, and women’s health leadership forums and helping translate system and service-line priorities into local action
Compensation & Benefits:
- Compensation is between $368,740 and $434,237 per year
- Sign-on bonus eligible position
- Comprehensive benefits include health, vision, dental, retirement, and malpractice coverage
- As a non-profit organization, Swedish is an eligible employer for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program
The compensation amounts listed may include productivity or quality/service incentives, call pay, extra shift incentives, as applicable to the position. In addition, providers may have CME benefits available to them.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Must have completed an accredited OB-GYN residency program
- 2+ years of experience is required
