CHILD ABUSE PEDIATRICIAN
The Department of Pediatrics at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia, PA, is seeking a BC/BE Child Abuse Pediatrician to join the faculty of the Division of General Pediatrics. This full time position will have shared duties in teaching and patient care responsibilities in the Child Protection Program.
The Child Abuse Pediatrician’s responsibility will be on site at the Child Protection Program (CPP) and at off-site satellites. The CPP’s multi-disciplinary staff includes a child abuse pediatrician, a nurse practitioner, a full time social worker, an administrative coordinator and a medical assistant. Our objective is to provide the highest quality of care to victims of child abuse and neglect, while minimizing the potential for further trauma by providing compassionate care and psychosocial support in a nurturing environment for patients and families in Philadelphia and the surrounding counties. As our hospital is affiliated with Drexel University, we provide education to medical students, residents, Emergency Department fellows and students of various other disciplines. The CPP sees over 600 patients per year in both the inpatient and outpatient setting.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing outpatient services and evaluations to pediatric victims of abuse and neglect, and children in foster care, as well as provide coverage for inpatient consultative services. There will be opportunities to educate and train faculty, fellows, residents and students in the area of child abuse and neglect. This position also includes providing expert testimony in local courts as it relates to child abuse and neglect.
