Physiatry (PM&R) Job in Seattle, Washington

Multiple Sclerosis Physiatrist

Swedish Cherry Hill Campus

Physician - Physiatry (PM&R)

Job Description

Swedish Medical Group is seeking a Physiatrist to join the Swedish Multiple Sclerosis Center, part of the renowned Swedish Neuroscience Institute, providing dedicated rehabilitation medicine care to a large and diverse population of patients.

This position offers a distinctive opportunity to build a focused practice within a comprehensive, multidisciplinary MS Center, working alongside neurologists, nursing staff, and physical and occupational therapy. The role centers on outpatient neurorehabilitation and spasticity management for patients across the full spectrum of disease severity — from ambulatory patients with focal spasticity to those with advanced mobility impairment — including botulinum toxin injection procedures with EMG guidance. While the majority of the caseload will be MS patients, the physiatrist will also provide similar services to a smaller population of patients with ALS. The physiatrist will also help guide decisions around complex bracing, orthotics, and assistive technology as patients' needs evolve with disease progression.

The ideal candidate is passionate about neuroimmunologic and neurodegenerative rehabilitation, comfortable managing a high-volume, complex caseload centered on MS, and motivated to help build a sustainable, patient-centered practice within a collaborative center model.

Position Details:

  • Full-time (1.0 FTE) outpatient-focused position within the Swedish MS Center, with 10% protected time for research-related activities
  • Close, ongoing collaboration with the MS Center's neurology, nursing, PT/OT, and infusion teams
  • Primary clinical focus on MS patients, with a smaller portion of the caseload dedicated to ALS and movement disorders patients requiring similar rehabilitation services
  • Participation in provider meetings and cross-departmental care coordination
  • Opportunities for patient education and community-facing engagement consistent with the MS Center's mission
  • Competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits package

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Compensation is between $309,842 and $362,820 per year

The compensation amounts listed may include productivity or quality/service incentives, call pay, extra shift incentives, as applicable to the position. In addition, providers may have CME benefits available to them.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • MD or DO with completed, ACGME-accredited residency in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation
  • Board certification (or board eligibility with certification expected within a defined window) in PM&R
  • Fellowship training or substantial clinical experience in neurorehabilitation, ideally with a specific MS or neuroimmunologic disease focus
  • Demonstrated competency in chemodenervation/botulinum toxin injections for spasticity management
  • Experience with intrathecal baclofen pump management
  • Familiarity with complex bracing, orthotics, and assistive technology needs specific to progressive neurological disease
  • Comfort managing patients across the full MS disability spectrum
  • Interest or prior involvement in clinical research, particularly MS rehabilitation outcomes research
