Canyon Vista Medical Center has an excellent opportunity for a BC/BE Psychiatrist to be the Medical Director of an Inpatient Adult Behavioral Health Unit. The 19 bed unit has 15 dedicated Adult beds and 4 Geriatric beds. Clinical responsibilities include new admissions, daily patient care on inpatient unit, evaluation and management of psychiatric patients on the inpatient unit, and providing psychiatric consults for medical-surgical patients. The Medical Director will hold a critical leadership position at the hospital and must be willing to work in a collaborative environment on the unit with treatment professionals and administration. The collaborative team includes RNs, Behavioral Health Techs, Social Workers, and Activity Therapist. Will work in conjunction with a Psychiatrist Nurse Practitioner on a day-to-day basis and on-call responsibilities will be supplemented with Tele-Psych services. Call is 1:3 schedule, but no night call – only between 7am – 7pm. Hospital has ECT capabilities.
The new inpatient unit opened in May 2015 when the new 100 bed hospital opened in the community. The Sierra Vista service area reaches over 120,000 people in Southeast Arizona.
