Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton, Massachusetts is seeking an experienced clinical leader to serve as our next Chief of Psychiatry. The Chief of Psychiatry will work in collaboration with the leadership team and provide oversight of the inpatient behavioral health programs at Cooley Dickinson. The incumbent will also be responsible for creating and implementing processes, staff oversight, provider recruitment, student education and establishing relationships with hospital leaders and services lines. Our ideal physician leader will be BE/BC in psychiatry and actively licensed in Massachusetts. They should possess expertise in the aims, concepts, and services of local community mental and behavioral health programs, the principles of the various adult mental health disciplines and clinical care, as well as state and federal mandates for behavioral health services.

This position will oversee a treatment team with two other inpatient psychiatrists as well as per diem physicians and advanced practitioners responsible for a DMH licensed unit census of 22 adult patients. Our emergency department has a designated care area for psychiatric crises which accounts for roughly 10 % of people who visit our ED each day. There is an additional stipend for on call coverage, with a maximum call of 1 week in 6. Competitive compensation, complemented by a full benefits package, is offered with this position.
