The Department of Psychiatry at Mass General Brigham Salem Hospital, in affiliation with Massachusetts General Hospital (Mass General), has an outstanding full-time opportunity at the Epstein Center for Behavioral Health for a BC/BE psychiatrist who is interested in adult inpatient psychiatry.

The Epstein Center for Behavioral Health is a newly renovated 120-bed inpatient facility that opened in October 2019. It includes two adult units, one child and adolescent unit, and one geriatric unit, in a full-service medical center. Each unit has a team of social workers and a psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to support physicians, optimize workflow, and improve patient care.

Physician caseloads on the inpatient units are very reasonable, with generally 8-10 patients seen daily. The model for medical care is unique, with a medical service that is dedicated to the Epstein Center and collaborates closely with the psychiatrist.

For the candidate who is interested in outpatient care, there is an opportunity to combine inpatient work with caring for patients in the outpatient department.

There is a strong educational ethos in the department, with multiple CME conferences, teaching opportunities, and a culture of lifelong learning and development. Tufts Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital Institute for Health Professionals faculty appointments are available. There are also educational and research opportunities at Mass General and Harvard Medical School for the appropriate interested candidate.

Qualified candidates are eligible for a clinical appointment at both Mass General Brigham Salem Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital. Salaries are extremely competitive. Evening and weekend call are very reasonable, and provide significant additional compensation.
