Lutheran Health Network, Kosciusko Medical Group, in Warsaw, Indiana seeks a General Surgeon to join our established Surgery Practice.
Basic Responsibilities:
- Examine patients and make diagnosis
- Review patient medical history & determine treatment plan
- Evaluate & advise patients on surgery risks
- Prescribe preoperative & postoperative treatments & procedures
- Direct & coordinate activities of nurses, assistants, specialists, and other medical staff, in and out of OR
- Follow established surgical quality techniques during operation
- Conduct research to develop & test surgical technique that can improve operation procedures and outcomes
Preferred Skills:
- Robotics a must!
- Vascular Surgery training
- Bi-lingual ability, preferably fluent in speaking &writing Spanish/English
- High degree of manual dexterity
- Good hand-eye coordination
- Excellent vision and visual-spatial awareness
- Good organizational ability

- Excellent communication skills to deal with a wide range of colleagues, patients, and their families

Current Practice:
- The Surgery Practice currently supports 3 General Surgeons, who perform Bread & Butter procedures including Appendectomies; Colon; Colonoscopies; EGD – Dysphagia & GERD; Gallbladder; Hernia; PH Probes, Thyroid, Parathyroid, Adrenal, Skin & Breast Cancer
- On call minimum of 10 days/month, per Surgeon. Holidays are a shared rotation, with an established schedule complied 1 year in advance
- Practice support consists of Director, Office Manager, Patient Accounts Representative, 3 LPN/RN, 1 CMA, and 1 Intake Coordinator/CNA
- All Physicians report to Vice President, Provider Services
Kosciusko Community Hospital (KCH), Warsaw, Indiana:
- Located on a 30 acre medical campus, KCH is a 72 bed, with all private rooms, offering general and surgical services in a medium rural size facility
- Services are provided within a surgical suite area, comprised of 20 prep bays, 6 operating rooms, 2 minor procedure/endoscopy rooms and 7 recovery bays. The Surgeons utilize OR Block Scheduling and perform services with the use of Da Vinci X surgical system
- Overall surgical specialties include, but not limited to Ear, Nose & Throat; Endoscopy; Gynecology; Interventional Pain Management; Ophthalmology; Orthopedics; Podiatry; Spine and Urology
- Full Radiology Services, Wound Treatment Center, 14 ICU Rooms, Cath Lab onsite, Non-Trauma designated Emergency Room and Birthing Center, and own Ambulance and Aircraft services
- Cardiology, Oncology, Urology, and other services offered on campus practices
- Large, established multi-specialty referral network, with 4 Lutheran Health Network based hospitals in Fort Wayne (40 mins)
- System wide Cerner EMR, Athena Patient Portal, and utilization of Patient Access Scheduling Center
- Population of Warsaw is approximately 90,000 with a surrounding patient base up to 189,000 in total population
