Twelve-and-a-half miles of saltwater shoreline and five freshwater lakes make Anacortes, Washington, a paradise for water-lovers. Island Hospital is a 43-bed community hospital, a designated Level III trauma facility and a Level II stroke center. Cardiac care, cancer care, a birth center, pain clinic and hyperbaric wound care center are just a few of the services available for patients. Island Hospital employs more than 750 staff members and has five family care clinics, as well as six specialty clinics. Island Hospital is a public hospital district, (Skagit County Public Hospital District No. 2) comprising boundaries include Fidalgo, Cypress, Guemes and Sinclair islands. Five publicly elected Commissioners govern the hospital district to ensure best practices are fairly enforced, monitor facility upgrades and see to the enhancement of community services offered to residents of the district.
